Every club, every date, from public records. Here is exactly where it comes from.

Wikidata

Player careers, club membership and dates come from Wikidata, released under CC0 1.0 (public domain). We query the public SPARQL endpoint at query.wikidata.org. Career history uses property P54 (member of sports team) with its start and end date qualifiers.

English Wikipedia

Player and club names are taken from the English Wikipedia article title for each entity. English Wikipedia text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Where two players share a name we show the full article title, so you can tell them apart.

Player photos

Player portraits are stylised versions of photographs from Wikimedia Commons, linked from each player's Wikidata entry (property P18). Every photo is credited where it appears, with the photographer and licence. The stylised versions are derivative works and stay under the licence of the original photo. We only use photos under CC0, public domain, CC BY or CC BY-SA licences.

What we do not use

Nothing here is scraped from a paid data provider. We do not use Opta, Sportradar, Transfermarkt or Sofascore feeds. That is a deliberate choice: the facts we need are the ones nobody sells, because they are already in the commons.

Found a mistake?

Football records are edited by volunteers and they are not perfect. If a career looks wrong, it is usually wrong on Wikidata too, and fixing it there fixes it everywhere. You can also mail us and we will look.
